Dhaka: Some documents that few leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement and former information adviser Nahid Islam have recommended for the recruitment of WASA outsourcing have gone viral on social media. Discussions and criticisms are going on for and against this.

Abdul Hannan Masud, Senior Joint Chief Coordinator of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has opened up on the issue. He explained the issue in a post on his verified Facebook page.

In a post posted around 4:30 pm on Monday, Masud said that there is no notification or examination for outsourcing recruitment. It is a short-term job on a daily basis. In times of crisis, recruitment is usually done through this outsourcing method based on various recommendations to resolve the manpower crisis.

Hannan Masud alleged that there is a media trial and character assassination attempt going on regarding this.

He also said in that post, I have known Nahid Islam Bhai, Nusrat Tabassum Apu for at least 4 years. I am standing by them. Some people are running after the kite after hearing that the kite has taken their ears. But they are no longer checking with their hands whether the ears are in their places or not.

The people of this country will not be able to support these people in the coming crisis. To save their backs, they will take shelter under someone's lungi.

Dhaka: The High Court has dismissed the case against Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on charges of adulteration of Grameen Shakti yogurt.

The High Court bench of Justice KM Hafizul Alam and Justice Md. Atabullah gave the verdict on Monday (March 17) by approving the rule issued to dismiss the case. Lawyer Tanim Hossain Shawon represented Dr. Muhammad Yunus in the court. Deputy Attorney General Taherul Islam Touhid represented the state.

In 2010, the Dhaka City Corporation filed a complaint alleging that a 100-gram yogurt was adulterated from a shop in Bangshal. Later, on January 10, 2011, Dhaka City Corporation Health Inspector Md. Kamrul Hasan filed a case against the shop owner Md. Abul Kashem, the supplier company Md. Tushar, and Dr. Yunus, chairman of Grameen Danone Foods Limited.

Dr. Yunus was granted bail in this case on January 27, 2011. Then he applied to the High Court to dismiss the case. The High Court issued a rule to dismiss the case and ordered a stay. After hearing that rule, the High Court announced the verdict on Monday.

Dr. Yunus' lawyer Tanim Hossain Shaon said that there were some mistakes in the case. Besides, Dr. Yunus was the chairman of the organization. He did not have executive power. Still, he filed the case to harass him. In 2011, he applied to the High Court to dismiss the case. After hearing that application, the High Court issued a rule. At the same time, it ordered a stay. After hearing that rule, it announced the verdict today. In the verdict, it declared the rule appropriate and dismissed the case.

Dhaka: The country cannot be built by neglecting the police, said Chief Adviser to the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

He said this in his speech to field-level police officers at a meeting held at the Chief Adviser's office in Tejgaon in the capital on Monday (March 17).

The Chief Adviser said, if we can implement the law correctly and establish discipline, it is possible to win all wars. Without law, there will be no government, democracy, or civil rights.

He said, the police force must play an effective role in building a new Bangladesh. Earlier, the police fell into the hands of bad people, now the police must play a role in building a bright Bangladesh.

He also said, Bangladesh is a country of potential. We could not take that into reality. The opportunity to build a new country has been created through the July Movement. Let us not lose this potential. Bangladesh has the opportunity and potential to reach the level of countries that are leading the world.

Among others who spoke at the meeting were Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam.

Among the field level officials who spoke were Chattagram Range DIG Ahsan Habib Palash and Rajshahi Range DIG Farzana Islam.

Dhaka: Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain has said that the Indian media is spreading various false information about Bangladesh worldwide. He asked the countrymen to be vigilant in this regard.

He said this while addressing a workshop and exchange of views at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) office in Paltan Tower in the capital on Monday (March 17) as the chief guest.

He said, the country is currently facing a financial crisis, for which revenue income needs to be increased. Bangladesh is in a shameful state in terms of tax-GDP ratio. We need to overcome this. The current interim government has full will to do something good for the country.

The Foreign Affairs Adviser said, we are not in favor of postponing LDC graduation. We have known about this for a long time, but businessmen have done nothing. We will do LDC graduation by 2026. There is no chance of postponing it from here.

The Foreign Affairs Adviser emphasized on the development of the country's cotton sector and said that policy support will be provided for the development of the cotton sector in the country. The government will take some good decisions for the development of the cotton sector within two months. Cotton will be recognized as an agricultural product and arrangements will be made so that farmers can get low-interest loans for cotton cultivation.

The workshop, chaired by ERF President Daulat Akhter Mala and moderated by ERF General Secretary Abul Kashem, was attended by officials from the Cotton Development Board, National Board of Revenue and people related to the cotton sector.
