Although everyone spoke very well at the launching event of the National Citizens Party (NCP), I did not get any political philosophy about the state, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has commented.

He said this at a discussion titled 'The Sacrifice and Leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman in the Struggle for the Restoration of Democracy' and the unveiling of the book cover of 'Nandita Netri Khaleda Zia' on Saturday (March 01) afternoon.

The Nationalist Research Foundation (NRF) organized this event at the Muktijoddha Auditorium of the Diploma Engineer Institute (IDEB).

Criticizing the intellectuals, he said, today a couple of intellectuals said that BNP was born from power. They have forgotten, they are creating a new narrative in politics. Ershad, Ziaur Rahman is trying to bring in but this is not right, Zia is of a different level, something else, Zia has given a new philosophy, today many are forming parties, I was present there yesterday with those who formed new parties, they said many good things about the state but I did not get political philosophy.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, whatever Sheikh Mujibur may be, at that time he created a narrative of Bengali nationalism against the Punjabis of the West. After independence, we got the territory, the political philosophy for which was given by Ziaur Rahman. This is why Ziaur is different from others.

Stating that Ziaur Rahman killed the one-party rule and transitioned to multi-party democracy, the senior joint secretary general of BNP said, any democratic person would have done this, Ziaur Rahman did it. Ziaur Rahman did not come to power by overthrowing any democratic ruler. Sheikh Mujib killed democracy by making Baksal. Ziaur Rahman gave birth to multi-party democracy there.

He further said, who created all these televisions, newspapers that we are reading, that there is a place for dignity in democracy, that there is a place for tolerance? Ziaur Rahman lit the torch of the light of democracy from the dark cave of Baksal. All those intellectuals who say that BNP is also created from power, BNP is ready to stay in power or that there are thousands of differences between the birth of BNP and the birth of other parties. Because BNP has created such a discussed democratic system, when democracy was facing a crisis, Begum Khaleda Zia again lit the torch of democracy and won multi-party democracy in the 90s. From 2006 to 2024, we have been in jail for the motivation, we have been on remand day after day, our Salahuddin Ahmed (member of the standing committee) has been in a dark cell for 2 months where it is not clear whether it is day or night, whose motivation is this torture? This is due to the inspiration of Begum Khaleda Zia.

Former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University and former Ambassador Professor Dr. Anowrullah Chaudhry presided over the discussion meeting. Also present were BNP Standing Committee Member Mr. Salauddin Ahmed, Joint Secretary General Habib Unnabi Khan Sohel, Distinguished Chemistry Scientist Professor Dr. Tajmeri S. A. Islam, Student Secretary Rafiqul Islam Bakul, Professor of Environmental Science at Jahangir Nagar University Dr. Jamal Uddin Runu, Advisor to the Acting Chairman Dr. Mahadi Amin, Human Rights Secretary Nasir Uddin Asim, Associate Volunteer Secretary Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan Jewel, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists BFUJ President Kader Gani Chowdhury, among others.
