India's dreams were shattered by Australia in the 2023 World Cup final at home. India, which was carrying the scars of that shattered dream, did not delay in taking revenge. India reached the final of the Champions Trophy for the second consecutive time by knocking out Australia from the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat on Tuesday at the Dubai International Stadium and was all out for 264 runs in 49.3 overs. In reply, India reached the final of the tournament wnning by 6 wickets in 48.1 overs. And with that, Rohit Sharma's team made it to the final of three consecutive ICC events.

India did not start well when they batted for a target of 265 runs. After the departure of Shubman Gill for 8 individual runs in the fifth over, captain Rohit also returned to the power play. Rohit returned to the dressing room after scoring 28 runs with the team leading by 43 runs. After that, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer took charge of the team. The two of them put on a 91-run partnership. After Iyer departed for 45, Kohli scored a half-century with one wicket in hand. Today, Kohli became the second cricketer in the world to reach the milestone of 8,000 runs in the second innings. The record was enjoyed by the great Sachin Tendulkar alone.

Kohli could have returned to the dressing room after the half-century. However, Kohli got a new lease of life after Glenn Maxwell's easy catch miss. Before returning to the dressing room, Kohli played an innings of 84 runs off 98 balls. Axar Patel's bat scored 27 runs. In the end, India won with 48.1 overs remaining thanks to the responsible batting of Lokesh Rahul and a stormy 28 runs from Hardik Pandya. Rahul remained unbeaten on 42 runs.

Earlier, Cooper Connolly, who came out to bat as a replacement for Matthew Short, returned without scoring any runs at the beginning. Travis Head always shines when facing India. The Aussie opener got off to a good start today too. However, Head returned to the team's 54-run total with 39 runs off 33 balls. Then Smith and Marnus Labuschagne put on a 56-run partnership.

Labuschagne was dismissed for 29 runs by Ravindra Jadeja. Josh Inglis, who had scored a century against England, also returned for 11 runs. Then Smith took control of the match with Alex Carey. Their 54-run partnership was broken when Smith departed after scoring 73 runs. Glenn Maxwell also failed with the bat today. Maxwell was bowled by Axar Patel and returned for just 7 runs. However, Carey reached his half-century off 48 balls from the other end of the wicket. Carey scored 61 runs from his bat before being caught in the run-out trap.

With this victory, India reached the final of the third consecutive ICC event after the ODI and T20 World Cups. Despite winning the T20 World Cup, Rohit's team lost to Australia in the final of the ODI World Cup. So, India's hunger for revenge is finally over. Tomorrow, March 5, India will face the winner of the second semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa in the final on March 9.
