The party itself will have to take responsibility for violating the code of conduct of its own party, said Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.
He said that the consensus commission can take the documents from each party to make the elections fair. Then it will be much easier to hold fair elections.
He made these comments after a discussion meeting on the 7th National Voters' Day on Sunday (March 2). The CEC released the final voter list for 2024 at the inaugural ceremony. In addition, a colorful rally was taken out in front of the building with Election Commission officials and employees after the inauguration.
At the ceremony, the Chief Election Commissioner said that currently there are a total of 123.732,274 voters in the country. Male voters are 63.361,615. And female voters are 63.79663. Third gender voters are 994. The voter growth rate is 1.54 percent.
After the discussion meeting, the CEC said that it is possible to win by terrorizing the vote. But in the end, it is not good for the party and the country. He also expressed hope that no one will do such a thing. The Chief Election Commissioner also said that the commission is not worried about the contradictory statements of various parties regarding fair and credible elections.
Stating that this time there is an opportunity to create interest in voters returning to vote, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah said that a new voter list will be published again by June 30. This is an ongoing process. Voters will be registered even after that, he said.
Stating that the commission is preparing for a tough test like the election; EC Anwarul Islam Sarkar said that fair elections are not possible for the EC alone, everyone's cooperation is desirable.
