According to eyewitnesses and police sources, student leaders Shariful Islam Akash, Mehedi Hasan and joint member secretary Shefaur Rahman went to visit the fair on the last day of the month-long trade fair. At that time, they stopped a woman being harassed at a shop. Angered by this, a group of miscreants attacked them. All three were seriously injured in the stabbing of the attackers. Shariful Islam had to get about 50 stitches just above his stomach. The other two are also being treated. The injured were admitted to Gaibandha General Hospital that night.

Masud Mia, convener of the organization's Gaibandha district branch, said that the terrorists of Chhatra League and Jubo League committed this incident. This is a despicable attempt to suppress the democratic movement. We demand the arrest of the attackers and exemplary punishment.
