Two people were killed in a clash between Awami League and BNP activists in Narsingdi's Raipura. Several people were injured.

The incident took place on Friday (March 27) at Mohinipur village of the remote area of ​​the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Amin, 28, son of Khorshed Mia of Mohinipur village and Bashar, son of Barek Haji of the same village. They were both supporters of local Awami League leader Salam Mia. In the event of two casualties, panic and tensions are prevailing throughout the village.

Locals said that there was a conflict with Chanpur Union BNP president Samsu Member with the Joint Secretary of the Union Awami League, Abdur Salam Mia and Union Awami League joint secretary Sohag, focusing on the domination. In the wake of the conflict, the BNP leader Samsu Member and its supporters were without the area. They returned to the area after August 7.

With this, tensions between the two parties began. Even both sides fight and ammunition. At one point, Awami League leader Salam Mia and his supporters left the area. Salam Mia and his supporters wanted to return to the area around 8am on Friday.

Samsu member and his men stopped it. Later, both sides clashed with teta, ballam, da, knife and cocktail. One was killed on the spot and another was killed on the spot. Several people were injured.

Raipura police duty officer SI Jubair said, "I received news of the two victims in the clash." Police are going to the scene.

Officer -in -Charge of Raipura Police Station (OC) Adil Mahmud said Samsu Member and Salam Mia and their supporters were involved in the clash over the domination.

Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Abdul Hannan said two groups clashed in Raipur over the domination. I received news of the two deaths officially. Police have started work to control the law and order situation.

After the political change in the country in August last year, the pace of expatriate income started increasing continuously. The highest remittance in the country's history (about 264 crore dollars) was received in December of the current (2024-25) fiscal year. The second highest remittance came in February (about 253 crore dollars).

A senior official of the relevant department of the central bank told a web portal that money laundering has decreased after the interim government took office. At the same time, the violence of hundi traders has also decreased. On the other hand, the dollar price of remittances is available in banks like in the open market. For these reasons, expatriates are showing interest in sending remittances through legal channels. In addition, the remittance flow has increased further around the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

The total remittance received in the eight months (July-February) of the current (2024-25) fiscal year was 1849 crore dollars. In the first eight months of the 2023-24 fiscal year, 1494 crore dollars came. Accordingly, remittances in the current fiscal year have increased by 355 crore dollars compared to the same period of the last fiscal year.

Earlier, the highest remittance of 264 crore dollars in a single month in the country's history was received in December last year. With this, remittances have crossed two billion dollars for eight consecutive months since August, the second month of the fiscal year.

A group of ordinary students of Dhaka University (DU) held a protest march at midnight demanding ban on Awami League.

The protest march began at around 2 am on Thursday (March 20). The procession started from DU's Hall Para, circled various roads of the campus, passed through VC's quarters and ended with a short rally at Raju Sculpture. From this rally, a protest rally was called for at DU's Raju Sculpture at 3 pm on Friday demanding ban on Awami League and justice for the massacre.

At the protest rally, the students said, "We have not seen the interim government take any steps to ban the Awami League, which massacred and supported the students who were protesting in July. This is shameful for us."

At the time, the students protested the statement of the chief adviser that the interim government has no idea about banning Awami League.

A DU student said, Awami League cannot exist in Bengal where Abu Said and Wasim gave their lives. More than 2,000 people lost their lives in the movement; thousands of injured people are still lying in hospitals. There can be no greater shame if this government says it cannot ban Awami League on the basis of their blood. They cannot exist in Bengal where Awami League committed genocide. We will not accept that.

Another student said, now the leaders of power-hungry political parties are sheltering Awami League. The decision to ban Awami League was made by the people of Bangladesh on August 5. Either Awami League will remain in this country or there will be a student community. Awami League will not be allowed to do politics in this country as long as there is a drop of blood in its body. Awami League must be banned immediately.

 He said, we condemn the decision not to ban Awami League. You have betrayed the blood of martyrs and injured brothers. If the chief adviser does not withdraw his statement, we will have a strong position against him.
