Indian national arrested on charges of attempted rape in Cumilla

Police have arrested an Indian national on charges of attempted rape of a 9-year-old child in Cumilla.
The incident took place on Thursday (March 20) morning at Mustafa's rented house in Raipur Singula village of Elliotganj (North) union of Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla. Officer-in-Charge of Daudkandi police station Md. Junaid Chowdhury confirmed the arrest.
The arrested Indian national has been identified as Tajinder Singh (50). He is the son of Pal Singh of Basipathana village in Chandigarh district of Ludhiana, Punjab, India. Tajinder has been working as an engineer in a factory of Agro Ambus Limited in Mohammadpur area of Daudkandi upazila for a long time.
Police said that the accused Indian Tajinder Singh has been working as an engineer in a factory named Agro Ambus Limited in Mohammadpur area of Daudkandi upazila for a long time. On that occasion, Mustafa of Singula village used to live in a rented house in 'Ma Manzil'. On Thursday morning, Tajinder dragged the child to his room on the pretext of giving him chocolate. He took him to the room and touched his sensitive area. Another child saw the matter and informed his mother. On hearing the screams of the child's mother, the people around came forward and caught the accused Tajinder Singh.
Officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Police Station Md. Junaid Chowdhury said that when he tried to rape her, the local residents beat Tajinder Singh and handed him over to the police. First, he was given primary treatment at the Gouripur Upazila Health Complex and brought to the police station. The victim's family has filed a case under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act. Accordingly, he has been sent to jail through the court.
