Adviser Asif advises India to seek peacekeeping assistance

If the High Commission fails to get security, India should seek the assistance of the UN peacekeeping force, said Asif Mahmud, the interim government's Youth and Sports Adviser.

He made the suggestion in a status posted on his verified Facebook ID on Monday (December 2) night.

AdvisEr Asif said, "If the Indian law enforcement agencies fail to provide security to the High Commission, then they can seek the assistance of the UN peacekeeping force. In that case, Bangladesh can cooperate by increasing its troop support in the peacekeeping mission."

It is noteworthy that during the discussion on Bangladesh in the West Bengal state assembly session on Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee proposed sending a UN peacekeeping force to Bangladesh to protect minorities, including Hindus. At the same time, she also demanded a statement from the Prime Minister regarding Bangladesh in the parliament.

She said, "Bangladesh is another country. This does not fall under my jurisdiction. This falls within the jurisdiction of the central government. If necessary, the central government should send a representative to that country with a message of peace. The center should appeal to the United Nations to send peacekeeping forces.' Mamata Banerjee said that she will also submit a written proposal to the central government in this regard.
