'July martyr families and fighters' to receive allowance from March

The families of martyrs and injured people in the July mass uprising will receive allowance from March, said the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

He briefed on various contemporary issues at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday (February 27).

He said that according to the decision taken at the meeting held at the Chief Adviser's office on February 9 and 24, the martyrs of the July uprising will be called 'July martyrs' and the injured will be called 'July fighters'. And the 'July martyr families and fighters' will receive allowance from March.

Shafiqul Alam said that the list of 834 martyrs of July has already been published in the gazette. Each martyr's family will receive a one-time grant of Tk. 30 lakh. Of this, Tk. 10 lakh will be given through the National Savings Certificate in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the remaining Tk. 20 lakh will be given through the July 2025 National Savings Certificate in the 2025-2026 fiscal year. In addition, the martyr's family will be given an allowance of Tk. 20 thousand every month.

Injured July warriors will receive treatment in three categories. The Press Secretary mentioned the benefits of each category. The benefits that injured July warriors will receive are-

Category 'A' (very seriously injured)

Category 'A' (very seriously injured) 493 July warriors are listed; who are unable to live without the help of others due to physical disability even after treatment. Category A warriors will be given a one-time payment of Tk. 5 lakh, Tk. 2 lakh in cash (through bank check) in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, and Tk. 3 lakh in cash (through bank check) in the 2025-2026 fiscal year. In addition, they will receive a monthly allowance of Tk. 20 thousand. They will receive lifelong medical facilities in various government hospitals. In addition, they will receive medical services in domestic and foreign hospitals on the recommendation of the appropriate medical board. The work assistant will receive necessary training and rehabilitation facilities. They will receive an identity card and will receive various benefits from the government by showing the identity card.

Category 'B' (Seriously Injured)

908 July warriors are listed in the seriously injured category 'B'. Those who, after adequate treatment, will be able to live with partial help from others due to physical disability will receive financial assistance and other benefits as injured July warriors. Out of this, a one-time grant of Tk. 3 lakh, Tk. 1 lakh in cash (through bank check) in the 2024-2025 financial year, and Tk. 2 lakh in cash (through bank check) in the 2025-2026 financial year. They will receive a monthly allowance of Tk. 15 thousand. The work assistant will receive necessary training and government/semi-government employment on a priority basis. They will receive an identity card and will receive various benefits from the government by showing the identity card.

Category 'C' (Injured)

10,648 July warriors are listed in the injured category 'C', who are currently healthy after treatment. Injured July warriors will receive a one-time payment of Tk. 1 lakh, 10,000 taka monthly. In addition, they will receive rehabilitation benefits, identity cards and will receive various benefits from the government by showing their identity cards.
