200 bhori of gold robbed from a businessman after shooting him in Banasree

A gold merchant named Anwar Hossain (43) was shot and robbed of 200 bhari gold and Tk. one lakh in cash in the Banasree area of Rampura police station in the capital.

The incident took place in front of house number 20, Road No. 7, D Block, Banasree at around 10:30 pm on Sunday (February 23).

Later, locals rescued him with the bullet-injured condition at around 12 am and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital(DMCH).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rampura police station Mohammad Ataur Rahman Akand confirmed the matter.

In this regard, Rampura police station-duty officer Md. Mohsin said, "A police patrol team went to the spot after hearing about a person blocking the road being shot in the hand and foot. The OC and senior officials are there. The victim is said to be a gold merchant.’

Earlier, the incident took place in front of house number 20 on Banasree D Block 7 Road around 10:30 pm on Sunday. At that time, residents recorded the robbery and shooting scene on their mobile phones from a nearby building. It went viral on social media that night.

The video shows three men getting off a motorcycle and trying to snatch a bag from businessman Anwar. He did not let go of the bag. At one point in the scuffle, one of them shot him. Later, they snatched the bag and fled on a motorcycle.

 The relatives of the injured Anwar said that Anwar had 200 gold ornaments and Tk. one lakh in cash in his bag. They believe that the miscreants followed him from the shop. Then, as soon as they reached in front of his house, they snatched the gold and money.
