The court has ordered a ban on the departure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, son Sajib Ahmed Wazed (Joy), daughter Saima Wazed Putul, Rehana's daughters Tulip Rizwana Siddique and Azmina Siddique, and son Radwan Mujib Siddique.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain (Galib) issued this order on Tuesday (March 11) following an application by the ACC.

ACC official Monirul Islam, Deputy Director of the ACC, had applied for a ban on their departure.

The petition stated that an allegation of embezzlement of about Tk. 59 thousand crore in the name of construction of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant against Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajib Wazed Joy, younger sister Sheikh Rehana and her younger sister's daughter Tulip Siddique and others is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission. A five-member investigation team has been formed to investigate the allegation and submit a report.

During the investigation, it was learned through reliable sources that the individuals involved in the allegations are trying to secretly leave the country with their families. If they leave the country and flee abroad, it will create disruption in obtaining important records related to the allegations. Moreover, there are various causes of damage, including creating obstacles in the overall investigation work. In this situation, it is absolutely necessary to ban them from traveling abroad in the interest of a fair investigation into the allegations brought against the individuals involved in the allegations.
