It is more important to be on the streets than in the government, that is why I have resigned, said Nahid Islam, the information adviser to the interim government who recently resigned.
He made this comment at a press conference in front of the chief adviser's residence Jamuna on Tuesday (February 25) afternoon. He said, "I have submitted my resignation, I have resigned from all committees."
Nahid said, "After the mass uprising on August 8, the three of us as representatives of the students were not responsible for the interim government. At that time, it seemed logical to us to take responsibility for the country's national security and to implement the aspirations of the mass uprising. The government is working in the context of the last six and a half months. Maybe we have not yet achieved the expected results. But I feel that stability has come to the government.
Nahid also said, "Personally, I think that in the situation in the country outside the government, I need to be on the streets for the emergence of a political force. I need to be in the ranks of the students and the public."
He said, "For the democratic change that we desire and to consolidate the power that the students and the public have contributed to the mass uprising, I think my role will be more on the streets outside the government than in the government. Our fellow fighters outside also want this. In view of this, I have submitted my resignation today."
