BNP's extended meeting today with 4 priorities

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is holding an extended meeting after seven years. The party last held an extended meeting at the Le Meridian Hotel in the capital on February 4, 2018. This extended meeting will be held at the LD Hall premises of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Grassroots will speak at the meeting, the acting chairman of BNP will listen to it, and will also give a new message.

A 27-member implementation committee and six subcommittees led by the party's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi are working on the occasion of the extended meeting. Members of the party's national standing committee, members of the chairperson's advisory council and the central executive committee, as well as presidents, general secretaries or conveners and member secretaries of all metropolitan, district, police station, upazila, and municipal committees, along with about 4,000 leaders and activists, will participate in the meeting.

The senior leaders of the party also consider this extended meeting of BNP, which is being organized in view of the elections, to be 'very timely'. According to party policymakers, four issues will be of importance in this meeting. These are: the current situation in the country after August 5, the 13th parliamentary elections, maintaining party discipline, and maintaining strong relations with allied parties.

Responsible sources in the BNP said that the party is going to start election-oriented activities through the extended meeting. There will be instructions to start election-oriented activities at all levels after the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. The party wants to focus on the national elections, not local ones, and clear instructions will be given in this regard.

Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the interim government, spoke about a possible time for the national elections in his address to the nation on December 16. He said that if they want the elections with few reforms, it is possible to hold the elections in December 2025, and if they want the elections with a little more reforms, it is possible to hold the elections by mid-2026. BNP has started preparations for the parliamentary elections based on the December elections.

BNP leaders say that they are presenting their plans to the countrymen by accepting the interim government's words on the issue of elections and reforms. Among them, they are prioritizing completing the urgent and fundamental reforms and holding a free and fair election quickly. According to the chief adviser, which is possible in December. After the elections, the newly elected government will come and complete the remaining reforms in the spirit of the July mass uprising.

Regarding the content of the extended meeting, BNP Media Cell Convener Moudud Alamgir Pavel said that the opinions from the highest level of the party will be conveyed to the grassroots leaders and activists. The main theme of this extended meeting is to determine the action plan by observing all the ongoing domestic and international conspiracies.

BNP Publicity Secretary and Media Cell Member Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said that we are prioritizing organizational skills in the extended meeting. Along with this, we are prioritizing a slogan: 'Strong unity can stop all conspiracies.'
