We must have cultural practices, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He said this at a program to provide assistance to cancer patients organized by 'Amra BNP Paribar' at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Wednesday (February 26) afternoon.

At the program, he said, there will be no spring festival, no Pohela Boishakh, no various plays, no cultural practices, this cannot happen. Cultural practices are a sign of a multidimensional society.

Rizvi said, our uninterrupted 16-year democratic struggle, under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, has been ongoing. There is no end to how many lives have been lost and how many have become sightless during this. But we want a society that embraces everyone, nurtures everyone there. We reject obscenity, but we must have cultural practices.

Commenting that we are not well, he said, the expectations of the people have not yet been fulfilled. Yes, we may be able to breathe, we are living somewhat fearlessly, the police may not be caught by the state, but the terror that terrorists unleashed on the streets and in neighborhoods, the shooting of a businessman in Banasree and looting of gold, this is also something that people did not expect.

Expressing concern, he said, the entire nation, the people of the entire country, who have gone through 16 years of anarchy, have been living in uncertainty about whether their children and wives will return or not, whether their daughters will go to school or not. But still, if a woman is raped in a bus robbery, and the police take a case three days after the rape of a woman, saying that it is not rape but molestation, this is mockery of a woman. We do not expect this.

Regarding the Home Affairs Adviser, Rizvi said, he must ensure that the law enforcement agencies are performing their duties on time. Many of the affected are saying that the police are not working properly, and it is the responsibility of the Home Affairs Adviser to see why the police are not working.
